Dryad Woodland Enterprise provides a comprehensive forestry package Island wide.
Primarily working throughout the Forestry Commission’s numerous Isle of Wight. sites, previous operations have included thinning oak and beech stands for saw logs, firewood and paper pulp and thinning softwood for local biomass suppliers, mainland forestry and fencing companies. Contracts in privately owned stands have focused on thinning naturally regenerated native species in environmentally sensitive, semi-natural woodlands managed for conservational diversity.
The Island is home to numerous plantations on ancient woodland sites (PAWS). Particularly when composed of mono-cultural non-native conifer, modern (1950s-1970s) plantation species can be seriously detrimental to both the floral and faunal biodiversity of the woodland. The Forestry Commission is eager to help owners of such sites to restore these habitats through grant funding. Whether you have plantation trees in need of attention, through thinning or removal for semi-natural regeneration, or large, valuable woodland timber standards requiring felling by an experienced pair of hands, Dryad Woodland Enterprise can provide a professional, no nonsense solution.
